Paris, France | – French international energy group Total SA has completed the flare-out of the shallow-water Ofon field offshore Nigeria in Oil Mining Lease (OML) 102.
The field’s associated gas is now being compressed, exported to shore, and monetized via Nigeria LNG.
“This important milestone of Phase 2 of the Ofon project was achieved in a context of high levels of local content,” said Guy Maurice, senior vice president Africa at Total Exploration & Production. This included the first living quarters platform fabricated in Nigeria.
Ofon is 65 km (40 mi) offshore in 40 m (131 ft) water depth. The field came onstream in 1997 and is producing around 25,000 boe/d.
Flare-out will allow for a gradual increase to the eventual target of 90,000 boe/d through monetization of around 100 MMcf/d (2.8 MMcm/d), followed later in 2015 by drilling additional wells.
Total E&P Nigeria operates OML 102 in partnership with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
