Authorities in Nigeria’s capital of Abuja have set new curfew times for public parks, bars and night clubs following a string of attacks in the oil-rich nation by a radical Muslim sect.
The Federal Capital Territory Administration issued a statement Wednesday saying public parks must be closed by 6 p.m., while bars, night clubs and cinemas must be closed by 10 p.m., including on weekends. The authority also said it would ban on-street parking around the country’s federal secretariat.
The move comes after a bombing at the nation’s police headquarters killed two earlier this month. Boko Haram, a radical Muslim sect operating in the nation’s northeast, claimed responsibility for the attack.
