US based FirstEnergy has signed an agreement with Iberdrola Renewables to purchase a portion of the electricity produced by the 304MW Blue Creek wind farm in Ohio.

The company will buy 100MW of the wind farm’s output for 20 years, beginning October 2012.

The power project, which is being built by Iberdrola Renewables, includes 152 turbines each with a capacity of 2MW.

Iberdrola Renewables executive vice president Martin Mugica said that by building the Blue Creek wind farm, the company is expanding its business into a new state and delivering immediate and long-term benefits to Van Wert and Paulding counties, as well as the rest of Ohio.
