Production at the Valhall oil platform in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea, damaged in a  July 13 fire, resumed Saturday and will continue to ramp up over the coming days, BP said Monday.

Before the fire, production at the facility stood at 42,000 barrels a day of  Ekofisk crude. Ekofisk  is the second-largest component of global benchmark  Brent, which is used to price more than half of the world’s oil.

“All reviews and assurances were completed successfully,” a  BP spokesman said.

Major supply disruptions to Forties crude, the main component of benchmark  Brent, have boosted both physical oil prices and Brent futures in recent months.
