Our client an established International Oil and Gas Exploration and Production company is currently looking for a Senior Production Geologist to join their team. The Senior Production Geologist will serve as a technical expert and coordinate with team members to manage the exploration, evaluation, development and exploitation of company assets in the regions.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in the preparation and presentation of new ventures evaluation from inception to the Board approval.
  • Participates in developing budgets and costs estimates for viable projects.
  • Conducts geological evaluation of farm-in opportunities as well as operated and non-operated ventures. Includes asset evaluation and results for exploration projects in the detailing of “oil in place” and reserves, to give value to the project’s worth.
  • Manages projects of specified assets (technical and financial). Monitors operator’s technical activity, budgets, AFEs, expenditures, production forecasting and proposals. Supervises annual budgeting and reserves reporting to reduce risk exposure associated with a project.
  • Works closely with team geophysicists and engineers in making recommendations for development well locations and drilling, logging and testing strategies to meet the Company’s corporate objectives.
  • Evaluates software and advises management on upgrades and new purchases.
  • Represents company at technical committees, seminars and international meetings.
  • Updates personal skills/awareness of geoscience concepts and technology.
  • Provides training and transfer of technical skills to subordinate employees in line with Company policy.
  • Performs other related duties and tasks as requested by management.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geophysics with a minimum of 12 years of related oil and gas experience
  • Proficiency in platforms involved in geological and geophysical interpretation e.g. Landmark Seisworks or Geographix, SMT Kingdom Suite, Schlumberger Petrel. 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Computer skills with working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access databases and project scheduling software such as MS Project is required
  • Possess strong team, interpersonal, negotiation and leadership skills
  • Ability to effectively interact across disciplines especially with reservoir engineers, geophysicists and drilling/operations engineers.
  • Good demonstrable project management skills.
