Technip announced Monday that Australian oil firm Santos has awarded it a flexible pipe supply contract for the Fletcher Finucane oil field development, in Western Australia. The field is located in the Carnarvon Basin, offshore North Western Australia, at a water depth of 525 feet (160 metres).

The contract, which includes project management, engineering and the supply of 19 miles (31 kilometres) of 10.2-inch and 9-inch production flowlines, along with 14 miles (22 kilometres) of 3-inch service lines, will start in April 2012, with delivery planned for the second semester of 2012.
This award constitutes an important milestone for Technip, as it will be the largest contract awarded to date to its flexible pipe plant, Asiaflex Products, in Tanjung Langsat, Malaysia, since the plant started operation in 2010. Totaling more than 31 miles (50 kilometres) of pipes, this contract solidifies the position of Technip as the primary supplier of flexible pipes in Asia Pacific.
Technip’s operating centre in Perth (Australia), one of its centers of excellence for flexible product design, will carry out the project management and engineering.
