Anglo-Dutch supermajor Shell has lifted a force majeure declared at a Nigerian site where an explosion halted production for three weeks.

Repairs to the Trans Forcados pipeline have now been completed, the company confirmed in a statement on Wednesday.

On 10 October, Shell declared  force  majeure on Forcados loadings for October, November and December cargoes after an explosion at the site caused a leak that halted production.

Earlier this year, the company was also forced to defer crude exports from its Bonny Island terminal in the south of the country following six separate spills associated with alleged sabotage of the Okrodia-Rumuekpe trunkline and the Adibawa delivery pipeline.

In its latest monthly report, Norwegian security consultancy Bergen Risk Solutions has said that attacks on foreign oil and gas interests in Nigeria have fallen on last year, but remain a “constant risk”.
