Saipem has been awarded new E&C Onshore contracts worth approximately $1.3 billion, mainly in Middle East and North Africa.

In Abu Dhabi, Saipem, as the leader of the Joint-Venture including Dodsal Engineering and Construction Pte. Limited and Maire Tecnimont, has been awarded by Etihad Rail Company a contract for the engineering and construction of a railway tract linking the natural gas production fields of Shah and Habshan, located in the internal part of the Country, to the Port of Ruwais.

The project encompasses the development of a railway tract, partly on a single and partly on a double track, which covers a distance of over 260 kilometers. At full capacity, the railway will transport over 7 million tons of sulfur per year, which come from the gas treatment processes.

The activities will be completed by the end of 2014.

In Morocco, in a Joint-Venture with Bouygues Travaux Publics and Bouygues Maroc, Saipem won an EPC contract by Tangier Mediterranean Special Agency, for the expansion of the Port of  Tangier.

The scope of work includes two breakwaters and 2,800 meters of new quay, for a total surface area of 132 hectares recovered from the sea.

The project will be completed by the third quarter of 2014.

Furthermore, Saipem has agreed to various increases in the scope of its work on existing onshore contracts in Latin America, West Africa and Australia.
