Pavel Fedorov, first vice president responsible for finance and economics at Russian state oil company OAO Rosneft, is set to leave the company after less than two years on the post, two people familiar with the matter said Monday.

State-controlled Rosneft promoted Pavel Fedorov–a former Morgan Stanley investment banker–to first vice president in April 2010, replacing Peter O’Brien, also a former Morgan Stanley banker, who oversaw the company’s record initial public offering in 2006.

Fedorov could not be reached by phone in his office Monday.

His photograph has been removed from Rosneft’s web page, although his name was still listed as member of the company’s management board.

A Rosneft spokesman declined to comment.
