Subsea pipeline technologyPPI Pipeline Solutions, A joint venture between GE Oil & Gas and Al Shaheen, has been selected to provide advanced inspection technology and engineering services to monitor the integrity of two Australian natural gas pipeline infrastructure networks.

GE said PPI would inspect 22 sections of the Dampier-to-Bunbury natural gas pipeline in Western Australia which delivers gas from the Carnarvon basin in the North West Shelf to customers in Perth and the surrounding area.

The inspection project is expected to begin in April and will cover 2700 kilometres, including pipeline owner DBP’s main and loop lines.

PPI’s Australian alliance partner Contract Resources, which holds the inspection contract with DBP, will be responsible for infield support.

GE added Australia’s largest natural gas infrastructure business, APA Group, had selected PPI to inspect key portions of its network covering the five states of Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia, New South Wales and South Australia.

PPI will inspect up to 30 sections APA’s pipeline over the next 18 months and the order follows a three-year contract that PII signed with APA last year to inspect nine, 150 kilometre segments of the Moomba-to-Sydney system.
