Nigerian President sacks NNPC boss, appoints replacement

Abuja, Nigeria | – The President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan has approved the appointment of Joseph Thlama Dawha, as group managing director of the state-run national oil company, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), an official said on Friday.

Reuben Abati, special adviser to the President on media and publicity, said the appointment reflected a series of management changes at the national oil and gas company.

Joseph Thlama Dawha, who served previously as the group executive director for exploration and production of the NNPC, replaces Andrew Yakubu, the corporation`s former group managing director.

Anthony Ugonna Muoneke becomes the managing director of the exploration and production subsidiary, the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), while Aisha Mata Abdurrahman is the new group executive director for commercial and investment of the NNPC group.

Attahir Yusuf is the new group executive director for business development at NNPC.

No reasons were given for the changes, and all the appointments take immediate effect.
