Nigerian refineryNigeria’s Kaduna and Port Harcourt refineries resumed operations last Monday after a temporary shut down as a result of pipeline attacks, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has said.

The NNPC management said yesterday that the resumption of the two refineries will help ease the kerosene scarcity in the country.

The statement signed by the Group General Manager, Public Affairs, Dr Levi Ajuonuma said the NNPC through its subsidiary, Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) has pumped 37 million litres of the product into the market. This is far above the national demand of 10 million litres per day.

“The supply situation would be further improved when House Hold Kerosene (HHK) from the Warri Refinery and Kaduna Refinery which came on stream on Monday begin to hit the market very soon”.

“Last week, when we announced the re-streaming of the Warri Refinery, I mentioned that Kaduna would soon commence production. I am happy to announce that both Port Harcourt and Kaduna Refineries came on stream on Friday and Monday respectively. This development is bound to boost the kerosene and diesel supply situation,” he declared.

Dr Ajuonuma said with this level of supply, it was not possible to have shortage of kerosene in the country.
