ExxonMobil is aiming to drum up lubricant business for dealers with the launch of the Mobil 1 Business Performance Programme. The programme covers training, product information, marketing, digital, events and OEMs.

The programme, nine months in gestation includes innovations such as Glovebox, a customer communications tool that gives customers their own web page, which they can populate with their car history.

It can help generate business for dealers from customers’ car servicing, MOTs, warranty work and service plans.

Customers can book online – the dealer enters the booking in the workshop diary – and the system also offers consumers a live chat facility.

According to Danny McGoldrick, Mobil 1 marketing manager,UK&Ireland, Glovebox will help dealers retain existing customers, attract new ones while optimising workshop use.

The programme’s staff training module explains how customers benefit from improved engine protection and fuel economy performance. It also deals with upselling oils and how to communicate with customers.

Stuart Milne of ExxonMobil Lubricants & Petroleum Specialties, said: “Dealers are facing challenging times.

“With reduced new vehicle sales, and fierce competition squeezing margins for services such as MOTs and vehicle checks, the Mobil 1 Business Performance Programme will help dealers unlock the full business potential of Mobil 1 lubricants.”

The Mobil 1 Business Performance Programme was launched at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Surrey to dealers.
