London – British multinational oil exploration and production company, BP Plc has announced the replacement for outgoing CIO Dana Deasy, with the appointment of Mike Gibbs.
Gibbs, currently CIO and vice president of the energy giant’s refining and marketing business, is set to take over the post as of November 1 following the news of Deasy’s departure earlier this month.
Dana Deasy announced that he would be joining JP Morgan as CIO, effective as of December, replacing Guy Chiarello, who has departed for First Data. In his six years at BP, Deasy had responsibility for global information technology, procurement and global real estate, and led on a number of initiatives such as the firm’s increased use of cloud services.
Gibbs will now take over CIO responsibilities, having joined the company in 2008. Prior to his role at BP, Gibb was employed as CIO for downstream business at US energy firm ConocoPhillips. He had previously worked in a number of senior IT roles at the firm since starting in 1980.
