Angola’s Sonangol to start oil production in Cuba in 2016

Luanda, Angola | – Oil production in Cuba, in partnership with Sonangol, may begin between 2016 and 2017, said on Tuesday in Luanda, the vice-president of the Cabinet Council of Cuba, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz.

The official was speaking to the Angolan press at the end of an audience with the Vice-president of the Republic, Manuel Vicente, stating that oil prospecting and exploration works conducted in the seas of Cuba have been efficient and promising.

He assured that the perspectives are warming.

The Cuban official stated that “the first well would be in condition of producing between 2016 and 2017, depending on the location of the platform of drilling”, which would be conditioned to the lifting of the sanctions imposed by the United States.

Ricardo Ruiz explicou que na sequência do embargo imposto, unilateralmente, pelos Estados Unidos da América, Cuba não pode dispor de uma plataforma até certa distância.
