London – Aberdeen-based UK services provider Amec has secured a six-year engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services contract with Nexen Petroleum for the explorer’s North Sea offshore assets.
The six-year contract with the China National Offshore Oil Corporation-owned explorer comes with two two-year extension options.
Amec’s managing director for brownfield and asset management business in Europe Alan Johnstone said the deal would build upon the existing long-term relationship between the two companies, who collaborated on the hook-up and commissioning of the Buzzard production platform in 2005.
The UK-based engineering and project management specialists estimate that 150 jobs onshore and offshore will be created from the new contract, which covers operational modifications and brownfield projects.
